MARA Appliance
Fixed Class II corrector — crown-mounted elbows guide the mandible forward on closing, no patient compliance required.
The MARA (Mandibular Anterior Repositioning Appliance) is a fixed functional appliance for Class II malocclusion. Metal crowns cemented to the upper and lower first molars carry interlocking “elbow” arms that engage as the patient closes, holding the mandible in a forward position to encourage Class II correction during active growth. Because it is fixed, it works around the clock without relying on patient cooperation — a practical alternative to headgear or a removable Twin Block.
- Mechanism — upper & lower molar-crown elbows interlock on closing to posture the mandible forward
- Indication — Class II Division 1 in growing patients
- Compliance-free — a fixed appliance works 24/7, with nothing for the patient to remove or forget
- A practical alternative to headgear or a removable Twin Block
- Construction — elbow attachments welded to crowns (bands) on the upper and lower first molars
